Classic Decor Ltd

Privacy policy.

How we look after your personal information when you visit our website or contact us.

Who we are

At Classic Decor Ltd, we provide painting, decorating, plasterboarding and plastering services in Glasgow. We are responsible for deciding how your personal information is used when you enquire about our services or become a customer. In data protection law, this makes us the controller.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, you can email us at callum@classicdeco.co.uk or call us on 07703 613 143.

Information we collect

When you send us an enquiry through our consultation form, we receive your name, email address and message, along with your phone number if you choose to provide it. We also keep the information you share with us by email or phone, such as details of your decorating project and our subsequent correspondence.

We ask for your name, email address and message so we can respond to your enquiry. Your phone number is optional. Please only share information relevant to your enquiry.

When you visit us online, our website and form providers may also process your IP address, browser details, the pages you request and the time of your visit. This helps us make our website available, receive your enquiry and protect against spam or misuse.

If you allow our optional OpenStreetMap maps, your browser contacts OpenStreetMap and its map providers. They receive information such as your IP address, browser details and the map you request.

How we use information

We use your personal information for the following reasons. Each has a lawful basis under UK data protection law:

  • Answering your enquiry and preparing a quotation: we take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or rely on our legitimate interest in responding to general enquiries.
  • Carrying out your agreed work: we use your information to perform our contract with you, including arranging the work and keeping in touch.
  • Looking after our business and website: we rely on our legitimate interests in providing a secure, reliable service, preventing spam and resolving enquiries or disputes, balanced against your rights.
  • Keeping required business records: we meet legal obligations where they apply, including accounting and tax requirements if you become a customer.

We do not make decisions about you through this website based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. We do not build advertising profiles about you.

Sharing information

We use Netlify to host our website and Netlify Forms to receive and store the enquiries you send through our consultation form. Our email and other service providers may handle your information as needed to help us respond and carry out our services. We may also share information with professional advisers or authorities where necessary to meet a legal obligation or handle a legal claim. We do not sell your personal information.

Our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this involves a restricted international transfer, we rely on applicable UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections recognised under UK data protection law. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

You can read more about Netlify’s handling of information in Netlify’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

With your permission, we display Glasgow maps from OpenStreetMap. Map requests go directly from your browser to its providers, whose services may use servers and caches outside the UK. Their handling of this information is described in the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

How long we keep information

We keep your enquiry and our correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, follow up and resolve any related issues. If you become a customer, we keep relevant records for as long as needed to carry out our services, meet legal and accounting obligations and handle potential disputes.

How long we keep your information depends on why we need it, our relationship with you and any legal requirements. We delete or anonymise information when we no longer need it.

Cookies & browser storage

Cookies and similar technologies can store information on your device. We do not currently use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not embed social media content on our website.

We use necessary browser storage, known as local storage, to remember your cookie choice. We do not use this preference to identify or track you. We remember your choice for 180 days, then ask you to choose again when you next visit.

If you choose light or dark mode, we also use necessary local storage to remember your appearance preference on this device. We keep this preference until you change it or clear your browser’s website data. Before you make a choice, we follow your device’s appearance setting. This preference is not used to identify or track you.

Our OpenStreetMap maps are optional. We do not load their embedded content or request map data until you allow maps through the cookie banner, Cookie settings or an Allow & show map button. Allowing a map also saves your optional-map preference for our website. The map provider may use cookies or other browser storage under its own policy. You can browse our work and send us an enquiry without allowing maps.

You can review or change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in our footer. Choosing Essential only or turning off OpenStreetMap maps and saving removes our loaded maps and stops further map requests from those embeds. Withdrawing permission cannot reverse information already sent or clear any storage a third party has already set; you can manage that storage in your browser settings.

If you clear your browser’s website data, your saved choice will be removed. If your browser blocks storage, we can only remember your choice during the current visit and may ask again after you reload the page or return later. We ask for a fresh choice if we change what your optional-map permission covers.

Keeping information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information and limit access to those who need it for the reasons described in this policy. We cannot guarantee that information sent or stored over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and our lawful basis for using your information, you can ask us for access to it, to correct inaccurate information, to erase information, to restrict its use or to provide a portable copy of information you gave us.

You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. We will consider your objection in accordance with UK data protection law.

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting how we used your information beforehand. You can change your optional cookie choice using Cookie settings in our footer.

To make a request or raise a concern, email callum@classicdeco.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) (opens in a new tab).

Other websites

We link to our Instagram page, OpenStreetMap and other websites. If you follow one of these links, the other website’s privacy and cookie policies apply to your visit there. Opening an external map link takes you directly to OpenStreetMap, independently of your optional-map choice on our website.

Policy updates

We may update this policy when our website, services or relevant requirements change. We show the date of our latest update above. Please get in touch using our contact details above if you need more information.
